The Armor of Parasite Eve II is considerably different from the original Parasite Eve game.

Armor Details[]

HP & MP Boosts[]

Unlike the first game, status points no longer used with an armor. Instead, an armor provides HP and MP boosts, allowing Aya to survive more hits and cast more spells.

Attachment Slots[]

Inventory handling during combat has also been changed with only 'attached' items being available when fighting NMCs: The number of items Aya can carry into combat is determined by the number of available attachment slots. This number can be increased on a specific armor through the use of Belt Pouches. The items that can be used include:

  • Recovery Items
  • Weapons & Ammunition
  • Dispoeable / Combat items
  • Passive bonus/boost attachable items.

Aya's equipped weapon can reload whichever ammo it is current equipped with once it runs out. However:

  • To change ammo during combat, the changing ammo must be attached to the armor.
  • Should the player wish to reload ahead of emptying the weapon, that ammo must be equipped.

Special Features[]

All armor sets/pieces come with one or two special features that offer a passive bonus to Aya.

NAME DESCRIPTION
HP RECOVERY Recovers HP equivalent to how much MP is recovered during battle.
MEDICAL INSPECTION
Opponent HP Display.
Displays the remaining HP a target has. Does not apply to most bosses.
MOTION DETECTOR
High-sensitivity Motion Detector
Displays the position of nearby enemy targets. The range is twice that of the standard GPS when attached.
MP GENERATION For every 5 damage taken during a hit, Aya will recover 1 MP.
MP RECOVERY Increases the amount of MP recovered after battle by 25%. All fractions are rounded down.
QUICK FIRE Increases turning/tracking speed by 50% while targeting enemies.
RESIST BERSERKER Prevents Berserker status from affecting Aya.
RESIST CONFUSION Prevents Confusion status from affecting Aya.
RESIST IMPACT Prevents Aya from taking a fatal blow as long as Aya as 6 or more HP. Aya will survive the hit with 1 HP left.
RESIST SILENCE Prevents Silence status from affecting Aya.
RESIST POISON Prevents Poison status from affecting Aya.
RESIST PARALYSIS Prevents Paralysis status from affecting Aya.
RESIST BLINDNESS Prevents Blindess status from affecting Aya.

In many cases, the armor determines what kind of character Aya will be, whether more physically or magically-inclined in terms of combat potential.

Starting/Found Armor[]

These armors the player either begins a section of the game with or can found as they play through.

Description: Aya's favourite leather jacket. Decent armor with special lining.
Location: Aya's default armor during Akropolis Tower scenario, replaced by Assault Suit afterwards
Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

One of the two default armors. Unlike her second armor, the Assault Suit, this gives a HP bonus rather than MP, as well as 2 less attachment slots. It is very similar to Aya's outfit from the first Parasite Eve game (design-wise).

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: The only time paralysis is a problem at the tower is against No.9. Unless a player has trouble avoiding his grenade attacks, they should replace it with Tactical Vest as soon as possible for the HP & MP boost it provides.

Location: Aya's default armor from Dryfield onward.
Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

A replacement of the Leather Jacket, providing a +10 boost to MP rather than HP. This becomes Aya's default "appearance" for the rest of the game.

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: The bonus MP this armor provides early on can be very useful in Scavenger Mode. From there, the armor upgrades path will lead you to the Shoulder Holster with greater MP or the PASGT Vest for greater HP support & HP recovery.

Description: Flak jacket worn by bomber pilots. Ceramic vest plates absorb impact.
Location: Scavenged from the green junked car in Junk Yard if Flint is killed by the retreating Burner.
Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

Being rewarded this armor prevents the player from getting the Soldier Rescue Bonus (because Flint has died). However, it does feature a solid HP bonus, allows the player to regenerate HP after battle and survive heavy damage that would kill Aya. Still, the Tactical Vest functions in a similar way (regarding how it handles HP) and can be acquired shortly after this armor is made available.

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: This armor suddently gets a lot more useful, given the power of enemy attacks. With the best HP bonus and the only one to offer the RESIST IMPACT buff, the player can tank a lot more hits that would be fatal to Aya. Just remember to keep her HP over 5 points. The big drawback would be the lack of MP bonus, which will limit a player's spell support.

Location:

  • Found on a dead SWAT member in Akropolis Tower. Is removed from the player's inventory upon returning to MIST HQ.
  • Found in Pierce's SUV after completing the Full Moon Puzzle and returning to Dryfield.

Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

An excellent armor sporting a massive bonus to HP as well as a large number of attachment slots. It enables a small amount of HP regen after every battle (equivalent of mp gained per battle, indispensable when amoebas are present), minimizing the number of healing items needed to get by. Many compares this armor to the Combat Armor due to their versatility, thought the Tactical Vest is much more inclined towards non-PE offensive playstyle compared to the Combat Armor.

This armor requires completion of the Full Moon puzzle in order to return to Dryfield.

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: For most players, it will likely be the armor they equip and stick with for the rest of the game, given it's overall benefits.

Armor for Sale[]

These armors can be purchased throughout the game.

Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

The first accessible armor that gives a good chunk of bonus to MP, intended for players who prefer the use of PE. It also sports MP Recovery, enabling more use of PE spells over time and immunity to paralysis in exchange for a lower number of attachment slots. A decent substitute to the Assault Suit, trading off 2 attachment slots for a more prominent PE-Heavy play style.

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: This is the best MP booster armor available with +20 MP and MP Recovery for after battles, but considering it's made available so late in the game (Army Truck (Good Ending)) and it's lackluster HP boost, it is questionnable if it would have any serious use, save for the final boss battles (Both of which can inflict paralysis.

Description: Heavy police body armor. Helmet amplifier prevents Silence.

Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

This serves as one of the first main body armors, but is terribly expensive when it is first accessible in Bouquet's Guns and Ammo at MIST HQ. This armor is very versatile and will last a long while should one purchase it early on. Sporting a staggering HP and sizeable MP bonus, coupled with 5 attachment slots, the armor is jack of all trades. Immunity to silence ensures PE users to be combat ready at all times while the Motion Detector negates the need for GPS, granting a valuable attachment slot for other necessities. Similar in nature to the Tactical vest but is designed to be a PE reliant survival gear than the armament-heavy offensive Tactical Vest.

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: First made available at the BP Armory in the shelter. It is a good piece of armor, but it is nothing that cannot be duplicated by the Tactical Vest with appropriate attachments shortly afterwards.

Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

The first accessible armor that features Quick Fire, improving the turning rate while Aya is targeting enemies. A decent armor that provides a chunk of bonus to MP as well as decent number of attachment slots. It's rendered (somewhat) obsolete compared to the Tactical Vest later on.

Tests have shown that the Shoulder Holster does not give the player any endgame BP.

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: Trading any hope of an HP boost for a good boost in MP, The Shoulder Holster is likely to be an armor a player will carry with them for most of the game, or not at all (Depending heavily on their play style).

Scavenger & Nightmare?: Yes

A unique piece of armor that one can purchase post-Akropolis scenario, first of which features HP recovery. Essentially a predecessor to the Tactical Vest, designed to cut down the number of healing items used. Coupled with poison immunity, great number of attachment slots and a sizeable HP bonus, the armor is quite versatile while having a good price to boot.

Scavenger & Nightmare Comments: A good early armor in it's own right, but the absence of MP in Scavenger Mode may prompt players to skip it in favour of the MP-boosting Shoulder Holster.

Scavenger & Nightmare?: No

An excellent armor that is only knocked down by its horrible price tag and late point of accessibility, this red vest provides an ample bonus to HP and MP (moreso towards MP). Sporting a great number of attachment slots, Quick Fire and MP recovery, this armor provides Aya with a suitable boost in combat performance. One of the two most versatile armors, next to Tactical Armor, the piece is inclined to PE-heavy offensive combat scenarios. Essentially, it is a beefed up Combat Armor that focuses on offensive PE-heavy playstyle and is one of the few instances of an amore being a 100% upgrade to another (In this case, the Shoulder Holster).

Scavenger & Nightmare?: No

Essentially a mix of the 4 most versatile armor sets in the game. Having a massive HP boost akin to the Tactical Vest, great bonus to MP of Combat Armor and the highest number of starting attachment slot to boot. The second armor to have built in motion detector (the other being Combat Armor); negating the need for GPS. It's also the second (and only) armor to sport HP display (previously featured in PsySuit), enabling a focused take down of one enemy among the mob. One of the two most versatile pieces of armor, on par with Aya Special, albeit more focused on non-PE reliant combat situations. Essentially a beefed up Tactical Armor.

Scavenger & Nightmare?: No

This armor features a massive MP boost, maximum default attachment slots and allows you to regenerate MP as you take damage in combat. In order to get it, you must either:
  • Earn the upper ranks so the unlocker cycles drops back down to the bottom of the list (from S-Rank down to L-Rank).
  • Play through a game while avoiding as many enemy encounters as possible, as the L-rank requires you to get 14,500 Experience point or less.

It is an amazing suit of armor that puts the PE mechanic to its utmost potential.
